Giampiero Grossi

Giampiero Grossi is a researcher at the University of Tuscia, where he works on environmental sustainability in agricultural and livestock systems. His work focuses on assessing environmental impacts through the application of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), a field in which he has also gained experience in production sectors beyond agriculture and livestock. He combines this expertise with the use of advanced instrumentation for measuring greenhouse gas emissions in agricultural and livestock systems. He also has expertise in climate modelling applied to the analysis of climate change impacts on livestock farming and is involved in the development of real-time predictive tools for managing heat-stress risk in livestock species. He is a member of a Study Commission of the Association for Animal Science and Production (ASPA), which is committed to defining shared guidelines and standardizing methodologies for estimating environmental impacts in the sector.

Nicola Lacetera

Nicola Lacetera is a full professor of Special Animal Husbandry at the University of Tuscia, with extensive experience in international study programmes and a substantial record of scientific publications. From 2015 to 2021, he served as director of the Department of Agricultural and Forest Sciences. He is a member of the Association for Animal Science and Production (ASPA), the European Association for Animal Production (EAAP) and the International Society of Biometeorology (ISB). His research focuses on the welfare, health and productivity of farm animals in relation to climate change and the environmental impact of livestock production systems.

Riccardo Primi

Riccardo Primi is an associate professor of Special Animal Husbandry at the University of Tuscia, where he teaches courses on extensive livestock systems, wildlife monitoring and wildlife management. He has authored more than 100 scientific publications on wildlife, extensive farming, ecosystem services, and technologies for animal husbandry and wildlife monitoring. His research focuses on interactions between wildlife and human activities, biodiversity conservation, and the ecosystem services provided by agroforestry and pastoral systems. He is actively engaged in outreach and training activities and collaborates with institutions and academies to promote sustainable agricultural practices. He serves as Secretary of the Council of the International Wild Animals Vigilance Euro-Mediterranean Society (WAVES) and is an ordinary member of the Association for Animal Science and Production (ASPA) and the European Association for Animal Production (EAAP).

Andrea Vitali

Andrea Vitali is an associate professor of Animal Husbandry at the University of Tuscia, where he focuses on the sustainability of agricultural and livestock systems. He has co-authored numerous scientific publications and is a member of the Association for Animal Science and Production (ASPA). He serves as field editor of the International Journal of Biometeorology and coordinates the ASPA national commission on “Methods for assessing the environmental impact of livestock systems”. He has over 15 years of experience as a technical-scientific consultant in the evaluation of rural development programs under the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD), with a particular focus on accounting for greenhouse gas emissions (methane and nitrous oxide), ammonia and carbon storage in soils. He has developed advanced skills in the management and processing of big data and in the implementation of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) in different production contexts. His research has also focused on the impacts of climate change on the health, welfare and productivity of farm animals.
