Why Kassena
The name Kassena refers to a West African people living between northern Ghana and Burkina Faso. In the Kassena worldview, the environment is understood as a whole that is built and sustained through relationships between humans and non-humans, with all the uncertainties and possible contradictions that interactions between human and non-human collectives entail (Mangiameli, 2015).
Choosing this name means embracing a model of balance, respect and cooperation: values that guide Kassena's mission to promote environmental sustainability and the responsible transformation of production systems. It is a tribute to a culture in which the environment is a living part of existence and the future is grounded in deep roots and awareness.
The logo design is inspired by the wooden masks of traditional Kassena art, whose aesthetics are reinterpreted within the leaf pictogram. A distinctive sign of identity that expresses the union between culture and sustainability.
